To help you better understand our work and how we can support your efforts to enhance scientific exchange and education, we've created a customised newsletter for our Affiliates that you will receive periodically. This newsletter will serve as a tool to keep you informed about our activities, initiatives, and important upcoming deadlines. We kindly ask you to distribute this letter among your members.

The call for ESCMID Excellence Awards and Young Investigator Awards is now open.

Nominate your colleagues to receive a prestigious ESCMID Award:

• ESCMID Excellence in Science Award
• ESCMID Lifetime Achievement Award (nominations restricted to ESCMID members)
• ESCMID Award for Outstanding Contribution in The Field of Infection

The deadline to submit nominations is 31 July 2025.

Encourage your young scientists/trainee members to apply for:

• ESCMID Young Scientist Award (open to all young ESCMID members)
• Emerging Young Scientist Award (open to ESCMID LMIC members only)

The deadline for applications is 18 August 2025.

All awards will be presented during ESCMID Global, 17-21 April 2026 in Munich, Germany.

We have opened the call for proposals for the 2026 ESCMID educational courses. Each year, ESCMID supports a wide variety of postgraduate courses and technical workshops that cover areas of infectious diseases and clinical microbiology to support the continued education and training in the field of infection. Your suggestions and ideas keep the educational programme innovative and valuable to our participants.

As an affiliate of ESCMID you can propose ideas for courses including the topic, speakers, and if applicable, a venue and budget. As active members in your fields, you are more intimately aware of the educational needs of both trainees and senior members alike. Courses should cover areas that needs more support or address burgeoning innovations in research or clinical care. They can also be organised as either online or onsite courses offering different benefits and accessibility options to meet the needs of your topic. Please review the important links below, which give you all the details needed to submit your course proposal.

The deadline to submit course proposals is 04 August 2025.

We’re excited to share two major ESCMID events happening this September in Portugal.

First, the 6th ESCMID Conference on Vaccines, held in Lisbon from 10-13 September 2025, will bring together experts in collaboration with ESPID, EAHP, and EMA. Expect cutting-edge sessions and outstanding networking opportunities focused on the latest in vaccine research and development.

Just a week later, head to Porto for IMMEM XIV, the 14th International Meeting on Microbial Epidemiological Markers, taking place from 17-20 September 2025. Organised in collaboration with ESGEM, this meeting will spotlight the latest advancements in microbial typing and epidemiology.

• In September, we will send you a reminder to update your organisation's contact information. If there are no changes, you may simply disregard it.
• In October, you will receive an invoice for the upcoming year’s membership renewal. You will also receive an invitation to present your organisation in a short video to be featured at ESCMID Global 2026 (ENC/ASC ESCMID/Affiliated Society Networking corner).
• In November, we will send a reminder to ensure your invoicing details are up to date.
• In December, if, after an additional reminder, no membership contribution is made, your contact will be terminated.
• In January, we will provide information about registration for the Affiliated Societies Council Meeting, which will take place as a hybrid event during ESCMID Global from 17-21 April 2026 in Munich, Germany.
