Joint position paper from two ESCMID Study Groups on genomic surveillance of pathogens published in Frontiers in Science
|
The ESCMID Study Groups on Public Health Microbiology (ESGPHM) and Epidemiological Markers (ESGEM) published this article that advocates for mobilising pathogen genomic surveillance to contain and mitigate health threats from infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance (AMR), building upon successes achieved by large-scale genome sequencing analysis of SARS-CoV-2 variants in guiding COVID-19 monitoring and public health responses and adopting a One Health approach.

ESCMID AMR petition for UNGA 2024

In the run-up to the UNGA (UN General Assembly) meeting in New York, USA in September, ESCMID has organised a petition that we would like to share with you and urge you to sign. Antimicrobial resistance is on the agenda for the meeting and we want to really show global leaders how important this issue is and the lasting consequences if we don’t act now. Be sure to sign and send to your respective ministers and other influential politicians asking them to mobilise political attention at the highest level possible!

2024 Call for ESCMID Guidelines projects

The ESCMID Guidelines Subcommittee invites ESCMID members and ESCMID Study Groups to submit proposals for clinical practice guidelines projects in the following topics:
- Infection control and ICU standard procedures to reduce VAP
- Diagnosis and treatment of endovascular graft infections
- Diagnosis and treatment of Q fever
Topics for guidelines are here intended as broad areas, where the applicant is expected to propose scope and focus, balancing feasibility and comprehensiveness.
