ESCMID Executive Committee Election 2024: Call for Nominations closes on 31 August 2024

In April 2025, Emmanuelle Cambau will relinquish her role as member of the ESCMID Executive Committee, one year ahead of the scheduled four-year term. Therefore, exceptional elections will be held among the membership at the end of 2024, to fill one position (out of eight) in the ESCMID Executive Committee representing clinical microbiology.

 

The Nomination Subcommittee would like to encourage you to propose candidates, taking into consideration their professional excellence, leadership abilities in managing complex organisations, communication skills and contributions to the activities of ESCMID.

Study Group Collaboration Grant opens next week on 15 August 2024

The Study Group Collaboration Grant is a larger-scale grant for innovative research projects in clinical microbiology and infectious diseases organised by an experienced PI with the support of at least three ESCMID SGs collaborating. Designed for a maximum duration of two years, your project should be of high quality, with a focus on innovation and networking.

Nominate candidates for the ESCMID Excellence Awards

You can now nominate candidates for the following ESCMID Excellence Awards for 2025:

  • Excellence Award for Scientific Contributions in CM/ID: this award shines a spotlight on extraordinary contributions in science, education, or professional affairs - recipients will deliver a keynote lecture at ESCMID Global 2025.

  • Lifetime Achievement Award: this award acknowledges one deserving member for their outstanding contribution to the ESCMID mission.

  • Award for Outstanding Contributions in the Field of Infection: this award is for individuals who have made significant strides by driving international policies, setting education standards, or engaging the public on critical issues in the field of infection.

To facilitate professional development, ESCMID encourages mentorship. Our mentors sit within the ESCMID Mentorship Centre (EMC), offering support and guidance to their mentees. Through this programme, our objective is to give ESCMID members a unique opportunity to meet skilled professionals in their field, gaining valuable insight into research and career development. Mentees are encouraged to make a one-to-two-year commitment to fully benefit from the programme and their respective mentors.
