Don’t miss the last pre-congress day, and replays now available

The first two pre-congress days were a fantastic success and a great way to kick off this year’s congress proceedings. They covered antibiotic resistance determination and tuberculosis diagnosis. Both replays are now available to watch on the virtual congress platform if you weren’t able to join us live.

Catch up on those sessions just ahead of the third and final pre-congress workshop which will be streamed live on Thursday, 27 March at 12:00 noon CET. Join Natacha Couto and Sandra Reuter as they give an overview of how to interpret genomics data for infectious disease surveillance. We look forward to seeing you online!

New commentary from the AMR Action Subcommittee

The AMR Action Subcommittee published a commentary with the support of the Trainee Association of ESCMID (TAE) covering their activities during World AMR Awareness Week 2024. This annual event is a major time to reflect on and bring to light the ongoing challenges of antimicrobial resistance. This year the theme was "Educate. Advocate. Act now." and the subcommittee organised a webinar series in collaboration with the TAE and ISID to discuss topics like epidemiology, surveillance and policy. You can read on their activities and the key takeaways from the events along with their ideas for the path forward in this commentary published in CMI Communications.

Taking on tuberculosis at ESCMID Global

Yesterday was World Tuberculosis Day and in light of this we want to highlight two keynote lectures that will take place at the upcoming ESCMID Global 2025 addressing the world’s deadliest infectious disease.

Guy Thwaites will review the current situation regarding TB treatment and highlight where the gaps are describing the need for new clinical trials concerning drugs for the optimal treatment of TB as well as the potential for host-directed therapies.

Stewart Cole will discuss the current knowledge of mycobacteria infectious diseases and how genomics played an integral role in transforming the diagnosis, treatment and prevention practices.

Together we can end tuberculosis for a healthier tomorrow!

Improve your microbiological laboratory diagnostic skills

With new technology improving the speed and accuracy of infection detection, clear and consistent diagnostic methods are more important than ever. However, interpreting test results can be challenging, as they depend on the patient’s condition and the potential harm of the microorganism.

Join our course to develop practical skills in diagnosing and treating bacterial infections using a standardised approach. This training will help clinical microbiologists make more accurate decisions and enhance patient care.
