Thanks for a successful Summer School!

The 23rd edition of the ESCMID Summer School is now closed and was a resounding success. We welcomed 89 students and 40 faculty to the wonderfully historic city of Dublin, Ireland to connect and learn from each other.

Through lectures, workshops and special student presentations participants explored the different facets of infectious diseases while also working on their own professional development. Visits to four major healthcare institutions in Dublin were a highlight of the week offering unique learning opportunities and hands-on experience. Thank you to our students, faculty, hosts and everyone who helped make the event so successful.

We look forward to seeing you next year in Budapest, Hungary for the 24th ESCMID Summer School.

Apply for an ESCMID research grant

Applications for both individual and study group research grants are currently open. Individual research grants support early career researchers by providing an important start in their research funding journey. The theme this year is bacterial infections and diseases.

Study Group research grants provide additional funding for projects organised by our ESCMID Study Groups. These working groups cover a range of themes and topics and membership is free for all ESCMID members. The deadline for Study Group research grant applications is closing next week on 16 July.

In this second article Holger Rohde and Chantal Morel focus on the need to bolster overall health systems over addressing individual issues.
