Nominations for the three excellence awards are closing on 31 July 2025 and nominations for the early career awards are closing on 18 August 2025. Malaria is rapidly spreading in Myanmar, particularly near the Thai border, affecting displaced people amid disrupted healthcare. In Spain, a second case of Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever was confirmed in Salamanca, linked to a tick bite; authorities stress prevention and safe tick removal. Angola reported seven yellow fever cases, reminding travellers of the risk in Sub-Saharan Africa; vaccination is essential. The first seasonal cases of West Nile virus (WNV) cases emerged in Greece and Romania. In France, chikungunya local transmissions have increased to 25 cases, reaching Alsace. For both WNV and chikungunya, mosquito bite prevention is key.
