Nominations are open for the 2025 ESCMID Executive Committee elections

The terms of three ESCMID Executive Committee members are ending in April 2026, therefore elections will be held among the membership at the end of 2025 to fill these three positions.

 

The Nomination Subcommittee encourages you to propose candidates, taking into consideration their professional excellence, leadership abilities in managing complex organisations, communication skills and contributions to the activities of ESCMID.

Deadline to submit is 31 August 2025.

Measles cases are increasing in Canada, the USA, Mexico, and the UK, with Vietnam-linked imported cases in South Korea signalling sustained transmission and risk to unvaccinated travellers. Europe reports local spread of arthropod-borne viruses: chikungunya (31), dengue (4), West Nile virus (9, one fatal), and Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever (4), with rising case numbers expected. Colombia reports 100 yellow fever cases with 35% fatality in unvaccinated people. Japan sees record SFTS cases (91, 9 fatal), a tickborne haemorrhagic virus with potential human-to-human spread. Mpox alerts include Clade II in Sierra Leone and Guinea, and two Clade I travel-related cases in Australia.
