The Nomination Subcommittee encourages you to propose candidates, taking into consideration their professional excellence, leadership abilities in managing complex organisations, communication skills and contributions to the activities of ESCMID.

The season of vector-borne diseases intensifies in Europe: Active transmission of West Nile virus, dengue, chikungunya, and CCHF reported in the EU/EEA, under close ECDC surveillance. Japan is undergoing its most significant pertussis (whooping cough) outbreak in recent memory, with widespread community transmission; booster vaccination strategies need urgent reinforcement. Côte d’Ivoire is facing its first major cholera outbreak in 15 years, whilst the cholera outbreak persists in Haiti, disproportionately affecting displaced and vulnerable populations. Cabo Verde has confirmed 15 locally transmitted malaria cases in Praia so far this year, with surveillance and prevention efforts ongoing.
