Vaccines Conference starts tomorrow!

Tomorrow, we kick off the re-launch of the ESCMID Vaccines Conference, this time in collaboration with ESPID, EAHP and EMA. Over the next days we will be covering all areas of vaccines from development to clinical practice which you can see in the programme on our website. For those who are in Lisbon, Portugal, onsite registration is also now available at the venue.

We are awarding 50 young scientists with up to 2K EUR to travel to one of the over 100 collaborative centres to gain experience and exchange knowledge with colleagues in the fields of clinical microbiology and infectious diseases.

Leadership course registration extended
|
Due to recent demand, we have extended the deadline for registration for the “Empowering women in leadership” course. This course organised by the ESCMID Foundation is designed specifically for women in healthcare to strengthen their leadership skills and gain practical strategies for leading diverse teams. The new deadline for registration is 10 October 2025.

Strengthen the fight against multidrug-resistant bacteria
|
Multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria (MDR-GNB) remain one of the greatest challenges for hospitals. This specialised course offers professionals the knowledge and tools to recognise resistance mechanisms, track current epidemiology, and implement effective surveillance and infection control strategies.
This course is part of the ESCMID EUCIC Certificate Programme and has a few spots available for additional participants.

An Ebola outbreak was confirmed in DRC, with 28 suspected cases and 15 deaths; sequencing shows a new zoonotic spillover. The EU faces a multi-country Salmonella strathcona outbreak: 289 cases since 2023 in 22 countries. Chikungunya and dengue cases are reported in France (301 chikungunya / 19 dengue) and Italy (107 chikungunya / 4 dengue). Intense transmission of West Nile virus in Italy with 502 cases, including 226 neuroinvasive and a 14.6% fatality rate.
