Epi Alert: 24 March 2026

Multiple infectious disease events are raising concern internationally. Measles cases are increasing globally, with major outbreaks in Mexico, the United States, and Canada. In England, a meningococcal serogroup B outbreak among university students in Kent has prompted expanded vaccination. Yellow fever remains active in Venezuela and Colombia, with deaths linked to unvaccinated travellers and spread into areas not previously targeted for vaccination. Italy’s Campania region faces a hepatitis A outbreak tied mainly to contaminated shellfish. Meanwhile, hantavirus threats persist in Argentina and Russia, driven largely by rodent exposure.
