Call for the IDSA Clinical Grand Rounds

In collaboration with the Infectious Diseases Society of America, ESCMID is co-organising a Clinical Grand Rounds session at ID Week 2026, taking place in Washington, D.C., USA, from 21-24 October 2026. Young scientist members are invited to submit a short abstract including a case description, up to three figures, and a brief PowerPoint presentation outlining the case to the ESCMID Office for review at science@escmid.org by 29 June 2026.

Over 500 suspected cases and 42 deaths of Ebola virus disease have been reported in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda. In the Americas, a resurgence of New World screwworm has resulted in 176 human cases and three deaths in Honduras, while Mexico is experiencing a widespread measles outbreak exceeding 17,600 confirmed cases and 41 deaths across all 32 states. Australia has declared a national incident following 230 cases and one death from diphtheria across four jurisdictions. Additionally, Czechia reported its first child death from diphtheria since 1969. In Europe, a multi-country salmonellosis outbreak linked to eggs has caused 236 cases in Belgium, France, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands.
