Don’t forget to submit your cases for the ESCMID/IDSA Clinical Grand Rounds at IDWeek taking place this October. Young scientist members are invited to submit a short abstract including a case description, up to three figures, and a brief PowerPoint presentation outlining the case to the ESCMID Office for review at science[at]escmid.org by 29 June 2026.

The Ebola disease outbreak in D.R. Congo continues expanding geographically, concentrated in Ituri Province. Uganda's 19 linked cases remain confined to Kampala with no new cases for six days. Chikungunya is declining in Argentina, however an epidemic in French Guiana is intensifying, with 621 confirmed cases. A presumptive Nipah virus case in Kerala, India involves a ventilated patient with encephalitis and 77 identified contacts, all quarantined but exposure source unconfirmed. Dengue is surging across Southeast Asia: Vietnam reports 50k+ cases; Malaysia 33k cases; Sri Lanka 36k cases and 20 deaths, coinciding with monsoon onset.
