Science & Research

The call for individual research grants is currently open and accepting projects in fungal/parasitic/viral infections. As part of this call there are also six special grants available for projects covering AMR, emerging infections or vaccines.

We are also pleased to offer additional grants in the “Women in Science” category which strengthens the foundation of female early-career researchers and does not require ESCMID membership to apply.

Education

This course focuses on the diagnosis, management, and prevention of implant-associated infections, with a special emphasis on prosthetic joint infections and fracture-related infections. Participants will gain a multidisciplinary perspective, combining expertise from infectious diseases, microbiology, and orthopaedic surgery.

The course addresses emerging antimicrobial resistance, virulence, and the critical role of anaerobes in infectious diseases, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills to effectively work with this important group of organisms.

Elsewhere, Palestine reported over 9,000 varicella cases amid displacement, and a multi-country European salmonellosis outbreak linked to alfalfa sprouts caused 109 cases.
