Registration

Research grants closing next week

The call for individual research grants for projects in fungal/parasitic/viral infections is closing on 02 September. As part of this call there are also six special grants available for projects covering AMR, emerging infections or vaccines.

We are also pleased to offer additional grants in the “Women in Science” category which strengthens the foundation of female early-career researchers and does not require ESCMID membership to apply.

A Bundibugyo virus outbreak in the DRC has resulted in 5290 confirmed cases and 2516 deaths amid widespread community transmission, while Uganda has declared its outbreak over and France reported a single case in a returning healthcare worker. In Europe, an unvaccinated four-year-old girl in Italy died from suspected respiratory diphtheria. Meanwhile, a cluster of 21 measles cases has been traced to a folk festival in Sweden. Beyond Europe, Peru has reported 42k dengue cases. In the United States, a multistate outbreak of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli and Salmonella linked to alfalfa sprouts has reached 55 cases, and two A(H1N2)v influenza cases were linked to ill swine.
